5 RACING RULES AND REGULATIONS5.1 Liability waiver: Each rider shall sign a waiver of liability before being allowed participating at any RRGG sanctioned event.
In signing the entry form and/or waiver for any RRGG event, the racer elects to use the track at their own risk, and thereby releases and forever discharges the Red Rock Resort Gravity Games, together with their heirs, assigns, officers, representatives, agents, employees, and participants from all liability from injury to person, property, employees and/or reputation, that may be received by said entrant and/or rider, and from all claims of said injuries to parties listed above growing out of it, or resulting from the event contemplated under the entry form, or caused by any construction or condition of the course over which the event is held.
5.1.1 RRGG will not permit pregnant women to participate in racing, practice, testing or any RRGG related activity it deems hazardous in conjunction with their events.
5.1.2 The Start and False Starts
5.1.3 Starting positions will be determined by one or more methods depending on the racing format for that day.
5.1.4 In a road racing setting, pilots are positioned side-by-side. RRGG Race Officials will determine the number of racers per heat.
5.1.5 Grid order will be determined by a method acceptable to RRGG officials. This may include random drawing, timed runs, or any method suitable for the conditions of that event or acceptable by RRGG officials.
5.1.6 At the start of race, pilots must be sitting upright (luge and buttboard only)
5.1.7 At the signal to start, racers propel their luge/buttboard by pushing off with their hands, only as many times as the limit line will allow. Gravity Bike, Standup, and Dirtsurfers will propel their vehicles by pushing with their feet as many times as the limit line will allow.
5.1.8 A false start is when one or more riders cross the starting line prior to the starting command.
5.1.9 Pushing past the limit line is also considered a false start. Each rider is allowed (1) one false start per heat race. However the rider who has a false start will be placed in their lane but behind the other riders for the restart in that heat.
5.1.10 A false start is defined as crossing the start line before the start signal. Or by pushing beyond the predetermined push area. Two false starts by any one racer will disqualify the racer from that heat. The heat will be restarted minus the disqualified pilot.
5.2 The Race5.2.1 Flags: It will be each racers responsibility to recognize and obey the meanings of each of the colored flags and to follow the instructions of the corner workers. Flag colors represent the following:
GREEN: Open and cleared course. Rider may proceed. Racing is under way.
RED: Rider must come to an immediate and controlled stop. Rider must be prepared to exit the course. Rider must be ready to obey corner marshal instructions.
YELLOW: Caution potential danger ahead. Hold your position and proceed with caution. Riders are not allowed to pass on yellow flag. Passing on yellow flag is grounds for disqualification.
5.2.2 Contact: While some contact may be inevitable or accidental during the course of racing, no racer is permitted to purposely touch, block, push, bump or interfere with another racer in any way, at any time. Any infraction is an automatic disqualification. Further the racer may be subject to a (1) one-race suspension should a RRGG official deem the contact intentional or unsafe.
5.2.3 Right of Line: A racer who is leading his heat shall have the "right of line". This means that as long as he leads, he can decide where he would like to be on the course at any time during that heat. Riders behind him cannot interfere in any manner other then to attempt a clean pass. Once an over taking pilot makes his presence known be it by visual means or a light tap, the lead racer must yield his "right of line". From that point each racer must allow the other a line to enter and exit a turn. This line will consist of an area not less then (2) feet. A rider failing to yield a (2) two foot area to the other racer will be black flagged and disqualified from that heat. The RRGG corner marshals will make this decision. During or after a pass, the "passer" may not move in on the "passed" pilot in such a way that would cause the passed pilot to brake or take evasive action to prevent contact.
5.2.4 Crashes: In the event of a crash a pilot may place his ride on the track and can only push in the same way (hands or feet depending on the sport) they did at the start as many times as necessary. No assistance from other persons is permitted. If there are more than one pilots involved in a crash and each is scrambling to get onto the track, each must give ample space to allow for a clean push. Intentional obstruction or blocking another pilot is grounds for disqualification.
5.2.5 Accidents: Any racer who has been involved in an accident may be required at the end of their heat to check with technical inspection before continuing to race.
5.2.6 Pushing from a standing, kneeling, squatting or head-first position on a luge or buttboard is not permitted and a racer found to do so will be required to go back to the point where he restarted and be made to restart again in order to finish the race.
5.2.7 Radio communication between racers prohibited.
5.3 The Finish5.3.1 Racers must cross the finish line with their ride in riding position in order to earn placement.
5.3.2 A pilot must cross the finish line with all safety gear in place. If a pilot loses any safety gear during a heat the pilot will be disqualified.
5.3.3 After coming to a safe and complete stop, racers must quickly clear the track.
5.4 Designations5.4.1 Did not start (DNS), e.g. sickness or injury. Riders will receive no points for the event.
5.4.2 Did not finish (DNF), e.g. did not finish due to accident or unexplained absence. Riders will only receive the Rider Points (10 x # of racers present) for the event.
5.4.3 Finals/Tie Breaker (DNF), Riders who do not finish a Tie Breaker or Finals heat will be placed at the back of that heat. Riders will receive full points for the place earned (Base plus 10 x # of racers present). If more than one rider fails to finish the heat, those riders will be tied unless a protest alters the results.
5.5. Protest panel5.5.1 Before the start of an event a panel will be picked by the Race Director to settle disputes and protests. The panel will consist of active and/or retired racers and RRGG officials.
5.5.2 If a pilot believes he is at a disadvantage due to circumstances that have occurred during competition he has the right to protest.
5.5.3 The protest must be made immediately to the Race Director or to the Finish Line Judge.
