I will be posting stuff here, that pertains to the everyday stuff I encounter and have to deal with. A running commentary if you will...

You know, people ask me all the time am I prepping for the end of the World. For the last 4-5 years I have been living in the Desert, and now here in the Mountains, sometimes in about 300 sq/ft of space, making my own power, schlepping water, and living as simply as I can with in the allowable situation. But the real answer would probably shock you. No and yes, I'm a prepper, but mostly I'm doing Scientific research on deep Space Colonization. You see, I am designing and building systems for Lunar and Mars habitats. Unfortunately it is hard to understand all the nuances of that environment without have to survive in the same environment your designing for. Book study and theoretical research is fine, and I've done my share but when the rubber hits the road, you have to live your work so to speak. You have to learn thing inherently because some problems will never arise in a Lab, accidental real time events can be allowed for, but not if you don't know what they are. When you have to design a workspace that requires every inch of useable space your taking up can but Multi-purposed, and efficient. Dealing with issues so far away from civilization can be dangerous, but not as dangerous when you're talking millions of miles away. Deal with the psychological, as well as the physical aspects of this lifestyle is close as you can get and still stay on the Planet. As the school is ramping up. preparing the ginormous amounts of paper work it takes to deal with the Space Program, NASA, budgets, and all the different Proposals, I feel it will all have been worth it, when I see all my plans come to fruition manifest into their Physical forms. As an Engineer and Scientist, my greatest Joys have been from hearing from the people who have been on the receiving end of my designs, and systems...

I think one of my biggest challenges has been the Power issue. I noticed when I first got started I tried to match the Power output to the Power consumption I was generating. This was a big fail, and I see it repeated on a grand scale as people try to go Green. Eventually the reality was that I had to scale down the consumption, to 1/2 the amount I was able to generate. This was a big change in thinking for me, cause even though I was out here I wanted TV, Internet, computers warmth, etc. now I have designed my whole Power system around the use and recharging of one Battery. Now I have a Laptop instead of a tabletop computer with a monitor, a 12v Battery based TV, and a MiFi card for my iPad, and laptop. If there is one thing I whould encourage you to do is, maybe invest in a Propane Refridgerator for your house, or maybe in your garage. Keep a couple of bottles of propane will keep you styling, If the nuts ever does hit the fan you won't need to have a Genny constantly running to keep your food cold or Frozen, and a small propane stove will allow you to cook/bake your food efficiently, since the main gas to your house will most likely be off, along with your electricity as well...

Well, an update... I've added a small 900 watt Genny, and upgraded the stack with 3 new Deep Cycle Batteries. Having Power is nice. Looking at adding a Wind Genny, which will make sure there's always ample power. Walked and surveyed the new piece of Property that I want to be the Princple anchor lot in my matrix of land aqusation for the Eden Project. I want to tie 8 pieces of 2-3 acre properties together for it. Still no further progress on the Green house, but that's ok, because in my mind I think if I build it to soon I will build it in the wrong place. The Eden Project has a 20'x30' Geen house project slated for it so I'm kinda no tripping on that either. But I have been satiating my green thumb by keeping up the compost pile and mulch ready for the above ground beds.

After Finding out that the property would be hostilely received I have retreated to the Mojave desert Floor. We have begun purchasing a 23 acre piece of Property and as of this date we have already had two Film Shoots and three Events. We have woo'd over most of the Locals who come to watch the Amazing spectacle that is our thriving little Community...
