I have been experimenting with off grid power systems. I started with 6 older batteries, a 3500 watt gas generator and a wind generator. I recently Upgraded to all new batteries, a new Die Hard Charger, and a 120 watt Solar Panel. Here is what the system looked like before I upgraded to the enclosure. More to come... the mgmt.

Here we are 4 years later and the news is not good. The Wind Generator seized and the company no longer deals with models that old, I bought it used. The Batteries died slowly, one by one, over time, but the good news is instead of buying deep cycle batteries for $200 ea. I found a place that sells almost new recondition deep cycle batteries for $35 ea. so I just got three. It's like a whole brand, new world for me, after limping along with a dying stack, for almost 2 years, and having to live around a faulty power issue everyday. Now I run the central heater, lights and the batteries handles the load without flinching, for hours.
The 100 watt single Solar panel, which I bought from Harbor Freight for $299, which they no longer carry, charges my batteries flawlessly.
